Rob Wyatt

Rob Wyatt is a psychiatrist, Army Reserve colonel, and writer from the Appalachian foothills of southeastern Ohio. Nearly three decades of military service, a career spent attending closely to the interior lives of others, and his own experiences of love, loss, duty, and change have shaped both the questions he asks and the way he approaches them. His writing explores grief, memory, attachment, endurance, responsibility, and the obligations we carry toward the people and things that matter to us. He is particularly interested in what remains when circumstances change: which commitments endure, which identities survive alteration, and how we distinguish faithfulness from the simple refusal to let go. Across his work, Wyatt returns to questions of attention and stewardship—what it means to remain present to a life even when it no longer resembles the one we expected, and what deserves to be preserved when something cannot be restored. His writing favors close observation over easy resolution and is concerned less with overcoming loss than with learning how to carry what remains without allowing it to determine everything that follows. He lives and writes in southeastern Ohio, where he also runs and tries to pay attention to the things that are easy to miss. Held Ground is his first book.
